Remote training for emergency LOG shelter for Bank of Punjab’s selected villages at Rojhan, Southern Punjab

Remote training was conducted for beneficiaries form Bank of Punjab (BoP)’s selected villages from Southern Punjab at Rojhan. 24 trainees form 6 selected villages and 20 employees of BoP participated in the 2-day training session conducted remotely by HF’s Naheem Shah & Ashfaq Ahmed as well as 3 HF artisans were physically present at the venue. During that 20 emergency LOG shelters were built.

Completion of 1000 Emergency LOG Shelters in collaboration with INTBAU Pakistan Chapter

1000 Emergency LOG shelters were fabricated at ZC3, Makli by artisan and team of Heritage Foundation of Pakistan. These shelters were delivered to various villages in Sindh to severely affected communities. Besides that 200 shelters were donated by HF to flood affected villages in Makli as well.

On Saturday, 17th September, a visit was arranged in the desire of President Zafar Masud of the Bank of Punjab who wished for officers who offered to volunteer to show solidarity with Pono families.

Linking Dastarkhwan Goods Supply with Improved Quality of Life for the Displaced.

Under this program, Maa ka Dastarkhwan has been arranged by HF for 150 destitute families living on bund and roadside near Pono Markaz in Mirpur Khas. Under the program, among other supplies, the supply of local reeds has been arranged. Here you see that although they have been shelterless, they have begun to make matting for making a roof and for flooring for themselves and their family.

On 14 September, IntbauPak team led by chair Ar. Murad Jamil visited Pono Markaz and surrounding villages to see the production and distribution of emergency shelters. They were shown around various villages and met with villagers. Sumera, HF’s Social Mobilizer received the guests and introduced them to the artisans, Champa, Kanji, Dahni, Khoma, Raju. After visiting some houses in Pono village and interviewing the men and women in the houses and asking them about the shelters, they saw the stoves and solar water filter model being made there. The team also visited the people who were living on the road and asked them about the problems they were facing. Next, the team visited Mondh village and visited the houses and talked to the people. The people of the village let the team know that due to the extreme rainfall this year, their houses were almost destroyed, but the houses built by the Heritage Foundation withstood the extreme weather.  With the help of Ar. Yasmeen Lari, the villagers have also built a school by themselves in which the children of the village study. Jeevan, who teaches the children, was given 20 thousand rupees in cash by Ar. Murad Jamil to get a table, chair and stationery for the school.

Yasmeen Lari addressed a large group of philanthropists organised by Hawa Abdullah at Karachi Gymkhana. She discussed her Barefoot Social Architecture Culture of Giving and promoted adoption of villages in order to develop a connection with village communities directly.  Safeeyah Moosa CEO Spiritual Chords, South Africa, a long term supporter of HF work who has been invited by Yasmeen Lari to establish a similar training centre as Pono Village Markaz explained the objectives. And invited the audience to join her and consolidate their efforts. It was decided that a zoom meeting will be held with Safeeyah Moosa by interested participants.

On 10th September 2022, training was carried out for artisans from Shikarpor and Naushro Feroz.  HF PM Naheem Shah organized training for the assembly and dismantling of shelters for the artisans who were tasked to carry the load of 40 prefab units each to respective locations.

Founder members Ar. Khadija Jamal, Hon Srcy. Shanaz Ramzi and trustee Ar. Tariq Feroz visited HF’s Zero Carbon Centre at MakliI on 10th September to monitor fabrication and installation of emergency LOG Shelter. They were received by HF PM Naheem Shah who took them around the site and introduced them to the artisans' workforce.
