On February 24th, 2021, one of the aquifer pits at Denso Hall Rahguzar was put to test. These aquifer pits have been added to the scheme to reduce the impact of rainwater. During the test conducted, the HF team was able to pour 400-gallons of available water into the aquifer pit with room left for more.

The K-Electric continued the installation of feeder pillars on Marriott Road. Additionally, the installation of the first PTCL City box was completed.

On February 22nd, 2021, K-Electric started the installation of feeder pillars at Marriott Road. Once KE’s work is done, the HF team can begin the plantation of forest no. 1 of the Denso Hall Rahguzar project as well as continue the pavement along the area.

Additionally, the KMC team continued the removal of the garbage along the Murad Khan Road. Once the area is cleaned HF can start laying the tiles for the proposed food court and vendors activity area.

On February 14th, 2021, the plantation of forest 2 took place. The plants were donated by the shopkeepers of Marriott Road who have been playing an active role in the transformation and enlivening of the street, especially after seeing the positive atmosphere created upon the completion of Forest 3.

On February 10th, 2021, the garbage removal of forest 2 of Denso Hall Rahguzar took place.

The space will be used to implement planting of plants and greenery, intended to transform the site into an eco-urban enclave.

On February 15th, 2021, a follow-up site visit was made to Quettawala by the director of Evacuee Trust Property Board Javed Shaikh, and inspector Khurram. It was decided that ETPB will release the notice for the removal of all encroachments on the Quettawala Building’s rooftop. Additionally, previously the encroachments stores on Quetta Wala Building have been emptied.

On February 14, 2021, Heritage Foundation of Pakistan hosted a tree plantation event for forest number 3 of the Denso Hall Rahguzar. On the occasion, Ms. Shanaz Ramzi, Director Heritage Foundation of Pakistan, delivered the welcome remarks. A.C. Imran Nazeer Shaikh addressed the audience and distributed the certificate of participation for the plantation. The plants were collected by the shop keepers/owners of Marriot road who expressed their joy and spirits of collaboration towards the scheme. The refreshments were generously provided by Ms. Feroza Afaq.

On January 31st, 2021, Heritage Foundation of Pakistan, in collaboration with Starlinks and Rotary Club Karachi – New Central, hosted the initiation event for Denso Hall Rahguzar. The project is facilitated by D.C. South. Spiritual Chords of South Africa and Dadabhoy Foundation are the collaborating organizations for the project. On the occasion, Commissioner Karachi Mr. Navid Ahmed Shaikh joined as Chief Guest along with Mr. Irshad Ali Sodhar, D.C. South.

The event started with tree plantation carried out under the supervision of Shahzad Qureshi of Urban Forest. Visitors, shop keepers/owners, as well as guests, participated in planting the trees.

After the recitation of Holy Quran, Ms. Shanaz Ramzi the Director of Heritage Foundation of Pakistan and Past President of Rotary Club Karachi – New Central passed the welcome remarks. 

Ar. Yasmeen Lari introduced the project as well as passed her greater thanks to all the collaborators and participants and hoped this project will inspire many more to follow.

On the occasion, the shop representative of Marriot road also expressed their well-wishes and enthusiasm towards collaborating with HF team on the project. 

Maryam Pardesi, representative Dadabhoy Foundation, and Spiritual Chords, partners in collaboration also gave a speech.

There was an address by D.C. South, Irshad Ali Sodhar followed by an address by Chief Guest Commissioner Karachi, Mr. Navid Ahmed Shaikh.

Certificates were also awarded to partners in the project and the shop keepers/owners for their collaboration on the project.

World Habitat Centres

By February 24th, 2021, Heritage Foundation of Pakistan has finished the construction of 5 World Habitat Centres at the following Makli villages:

1. Aadil Farm

2. Kala Ram Goth

3. Khatiya Goth

4. Morvi jo Goth

5. Bighiyo Ram Goth

11 World Habitat Centres are under construction in the following villages. Prefab panels are ready for the remaining 11 centres which will be sent out as soon as the on-going construction of 11 centres is completed.

5. Loongho Koli

6. Kirshan Koli

7. Harjhi Koli

Heritage Foundation of Pakistan is optimistic to have the 27 centres completed by the end of this year.

YouTube Tutorials  on Conservation

YouTube Tutorials on Conservation

On February 9th, Heritage Foundation of Pakistan released the official YouTube Tutorials on conservation work. Low-cost methodologies were applied for making training videos. The videos have been released in collaboration with The Prince Clause Fund and ALIPH Foundation.

The most beneficial result was the preparation of training videos and the following detailed video tutorials were produced:

-Training videos for basic materials consisted of the following:

• Dry Slaked lime preparation

• Virsa Earth Preparation

• Earth lime bricks

• Bamboo fabrication

-Training videos for application on heritage sites:

• Wet slaked lime

• Brick making/underpinning
