Karachi Heritage Under Threat

Heritage Foundation of Pakistan in collaboration with StarLinks PR held a press conference regarding restoration of Karachi’s historic Calcutta House, a portion of which collapsed recently. Architect Yasmeen Lari informed that after extensive studies and structural evaluation of the building, it is clear that  the historic building can be restored. She emphasized that over 500 notified heritage structures in Karachi are under threat of willful demolition, which must not be allowed to occur.

Production of Makli Commune Tiles

The kashi (glazed creamics) production that was begun at the HF/UNESCO Kashi Atelier set up in the Buffer Zone of Makli World Heritage for conservation of historic monuments, is the basis for another track of glazed ceramics work.

HF’s Zero Carbon Cultural Centre (ZC3) has been set up for the production of 4” Makli Commune tiles by women of neighbouring villages.
