Community Forest of 100 Saplings Planted at Lari House

The green civil society organizations base in Karachi were invited to join the Makli Commune members in order to promote the current movement of Greening Karachi / Sabz Pakistan, on Sunday, 23rd September 2018, at E-6, Fourth Gizri Street, DHA 4, Karachi.

Beginning with the preparation of the lot size 18’x27’ (45 sq m), a few days ago, a forest of over 100 saplings was planted in the back yard of the Lari House. These were planted in special organic soil, developed at Zero Carbon Centre (ZC3), Makli. The entire effort was coordinated by HF PM Mr. Naheem Shah, while Ar. Mehdi provided support in developing the layout of trees.

The first comprehensive report on Green Shelters

The first comprehensive report on Green Shelters provides information on work in 2 villages in Tando Allahyar, 2 in Mirpur Khas, 3 in Thatta districts and in 8 mendicants' (beggars') villages in Makli (Thatta). 


From January to mid-May 2018 650 shelters, 325 eco toilets, 215 handpumps and 600 fuel efficient earthen stoves (Pakistan Chulah) have been built along with 720 women and men trained in sustainable and green livelihoods. In addition plantation of 2600 trees and over 500 bushes for 6 community forests and street/house greening has been accomplished.
