The Tomb of Mirza Jan Baba - Panel Documentation

On November 10th, 2020 site work at The Tomb of Mirza Jan Baba, conducted by on-site supervisor, Mommal,  and local youth of Makili WH (and neighboring villages) continues on a daily basis. Local COVID-19 SOPs are being followed and implemented. Two of the youth from the documentation team, Shiblaan, and Arbaaz have had to step back but we are joined by two new members, Shakeelaa and Syed Ameer Shah.

The daily documentation is being sent to the HF office on a regular basis and is being filed and drawn up into rendered line drawings by HF‘s Hafsa Syed.

AIALA Design Awards Ceremony - Guest Presenter

On November 9, 2020, Ar. Yasmeen Lari participated in this year’s AIALA Design Awards ceremony and was involved as a guest presenter introducing in the prominent female architects’ category.

The Tomb of Mirza Jan Baba - Panel Documentation

On November 6th, 2020 the first on-site photographic documentation of the patterned panels within the Tomb of Janaba in Makli took place. Supervisor Mommal Memon assisted the youth groups in reading and understanding labeled architectural drawings, locating the corresponding panel on-site, and measuring and recording each panel in a methodical manner.

Talk with British Council and WOW Woman of Pakistan

On October 23rd, 2020, Ar. Yasmeen Lari went live as a guest speaker on the British Council’s instagram.

Every Friday, the British Council hosts a live stream with WOW Women of Pakistan.

Denso Hall Rahguzar - Tile Fabrication at Makli

On October 20th, 2020 the tile fabrication for the ‘Denso Hall Rahguzar’ scheme continues at HF’s ‘Zero Carbon Cultural Centre’. Here, the woman and men of Makli have been taught the craft of bespoke tile making, allowing them to be self-sufficient and foster their sense of community. 

Talk with TEDxLCWU - ‘‘Barefoot Social Architecture”

On October 15th, 2020, Ar. Yasmeen Lari led TEDxLCWU campaign for the zero-carbon or carbon-negative movement to change the mindsets of urban design professionals. She discussed her “Barefoot Social Architecture’’ and designing low-cost, low-carbon shelters for marginalized communities.

Lecture for The Pakistan Society

On October 1st, 2020, Ar. Yasmeen Lari delivered a lecture to The Pakistan Society. She discussed her work at Heritage Foundation of Pakistan and her pedestrianisation developments in Karachi.

On September 04, 2020, Ar. Yasmeen Lari delivered a lecture at Colombia GSAPP hosted by Assistant Professor Ateya Khorakiwala, discussing her “Barefoot Social Architecture’’ model and designing low-cost, low-carbon shelters for marginalized communities.
